If you buy a Garmin, choose a model that ends with a "5", like 205, 255, 265, 755, or 765, is a newer model (old models is end with "0" like 200, 350, 360, 760, etc).

Yes! It is very easy to do. I own a Garmin Nuvi. (Nuvi is the model) All you have to do is make sure it is charged and you can take it anywhere you would like. I love mine!!! It also comes with a mount so you can stick it on your windshield.
